Curriculum Feature

1. Establish a screening mechanism for those who are interested in attending EMI class. First, EMI center will conduct course briefings before course selection. During the briefings, EMI center will inform students the language qualification and course expectation. Finally, students have to be responsible for their learning. 

2. Provide EMI course terminology before the course starts. EMI teacher provides the terminology in advance, and the students can preview and be ready for the class.

3. Redesign first-year English course: The subject focuses on English for General Specific Purposes (EGSP). The content is designed to reinforce the specialized knowledge required by each field. Furthermore, EGSP is to facilitate the connection with the English for specific purposes (ESP) course in second year.

Student Feature

1. Improve students’English ability in a planned way. First, implement English proficiency testing. Next, analyze the students’language level and incorporate speaking into course evaluation. Finally, enrich online self-learning software, and strengthen students’communication skills of professional and workplace English.

2. Guide and encourage students with advanced English proficiency to participate in the EMI course; students with average English level need to be interviewed and approved by the instructor/ course consultant before taking it.

3. Provide generous incentives and scholarships for students:

(1) A bonus of NT$ 10,000 (4,000) will be issued to students who pass the CEFR C1 (B2) level English test.

(2) Provide scholarships for merit, progress, and total attendance to EMI students.

(3) Subsidize the English book fees designated by EMI courses (limited to NT$ 1,000 per semester).

(4) Students who win prizes in language competitions will receive a 10% bonus.

(5) Priority is given to the admission of international study exchanges with stipends.

Teacher Feature

1. Enhance the English proficiency of EMI training teachers. A total of 60 teachers participated in the language program with an aim to get level B2 certificate. For more learning resources, provide online one-to-one English lessons with a live teacher and online English editing.

2. Cultivate teachers’EMI teaching skills: conduct 9 EMI seminars, and provide 40 teachers 40 hours of Cambridge/Oxford EMI courses.

3. Provide generous incentives and subsidies for teachers:

(1) EMI teachers will be issued 1.5 times the hourly fee, and teachers will receive 10 extra points for annual teacher evaluation.

(2) Teachers who pass the CEFR C1 (B2) English listening, speaking, reading, and writing test will receive a reward of NT$ 180,000 (80,000); teachers who pass the CEFR C1 (B2) English listening and reading test will receive a reward of NT$ 80,000 (30,000).

(3) Teacher who has CEFR B2 certificate or above will receive 10 points to the annual teacher evaluation.
